Real good Camp Cooking

Keep an eye on this section as I add the food I cook while camping.

I have been camping since I was 11 years old. I have never been impressed with just hot dogs, hamburgers, eggs and bacon. Don’t get me wrong I lover all of that, but why does it always have to be just these four things. Why can’t I kick up the eggs, pancakes , hamburgers and hot dogs. Over the years I got better and better at recipes and techniques I used while camping. I added a range of cast iron cookware to my arsenal. In the early 2000’s I discovered the Big Green Egg. While I still cook with cast iron I have combined the cast iron cookware with the versatility of the BGE. Two years ago I added a 22″ Blackstone Flat top.

The techniques I will use will all be done outside my camper. I will be using a Big Green Egg for smoking or grilling, my Blackstone 22″ Griddle and simple propane stove that’s part of an outdoor kitchen on my 5th wheel. My recipes will be easy to follow and can be cooked on any smoker/grill, or even inside your camper.

I will do my best to make sure the recipes I use will be tasty. They won’t appeal to everyone. That is just the nature of cooking. If everyone in the world had the same taste life would be simpler, but rather boring. I will guarantee they will not be simple hot dogs, burgers, eggs and bacon. I want to at least try and make most of them healthy, but everyone needs a S’More from time to time. I am going to do my best to research the region of the continent I am in and prepare food that is local to that region, but not all the time.
